We have our first time

So to try and move this along, Dave G has posted a time of 38mins for 7.5km claiming to be only his second run and he hopes to bring it down much lower. We have no independent adjudicator thus we must believe this time to be true.

Just a note for anyone training in a gym. Be sure to set the gradient to 1.0 % to simulate real outdoor conditions. Secondly be careful in using a running machine as you need to learn to pace yourself on the road. I will be home in just over a week and will be planning a few running sessions in the Phoenix park if people are interested ? The runs will take in part of the actual route so people can get used to the surroundings... Let me know

The training is going well

Its interesting to see that no one is logging the miles here on the blog. So i take it people are in two states of mind

1. I'm doing my training as a secret mission so nobody can know

2. No one knows or cares that this blog extists ??

I am still out of the country for a while with 2 feet of snow keeping me company so only gym work and some rowing for me until I get back to the Emerald Isle. I have purchased a brand spanking new pair of Asics 2130 in preparation for the few little jogs i'll need to do for April

Keep Track of your Training

To keep us all a little motivated, why not try the following. As you do a training session, (ie a run of some sort) why not add it here as a comment. That wa y we can all see how people are doing and offer some encouragement, advise, or abuse depending on how someone is doing.

It might just help some us get the runners and shorts on from day to day ??

The Great Ireland Run 5th April 2009

Ok, so this is the start of our challenge to run 10km on the 5th April 2009. The whole thing has started through my brother John and sister Orla dug out the running shoes before Christmas and getting his groove on. So a few more have tagged on and decided it would be a nice event to run and far enough away to give all the semi-retired athletes, who still dream of glory some time to train.

The idea of making it an event and setting a blog is so people can organise to train together or just comment on how sore your muscles are !!!

So I will kick off by trying to put some information of use up here for anyone that wants to join us on this little adventure
